Sophia Junk (born 1 March 1999) is a German sprinter. She has competed at multiple major championships, including the 2024 Olympic Games.
Career
She won silver at the 2017 European Athletics U20 Championships in Grosseto in the 200 metres. She was also part of the German 4x100m relay team that broke the U18 world record at those European Championships.
She won gold as part of the German 4x100m relay team at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere. She also ran in the individual 200 metres at the championships, placing fifth in the final.
She won gold as part of the German 4x100m relay team at the 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships in Sweden. She won silver in the 200 metres and gold in the 4x100m relay at the 2021 European Athletics U23 Championships in Tallinn.
She competed at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Eugene, Oregon in the 200 metres.
She competed for Germany at the 2024 European Athletics Championships in the 4 × 100 metres relay. She also competed as part of the Germany relay team in the 4 x 100 metres relay at the 2024 Paris Olympics, running in the heats to help the team qualify for the final.
She was selected for the 60 metres at the 2025 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Appeldoorn where she ran a personal best 7.20 seconds to qualify for the semi-finals. In the semi-final she ran 7.21 seconds but did not progress to the final.
Personal life
She started training in athletics at seven years old. She is a member of LG Rhein-Wied. She became a member the Rhineland-Palatinate State Police in 2018.
